I'm a Fretfull Cat Mum, I know
Aug. 13th, 2011 04:21 pmMy landlord and landlady had their first Open House today. They were concerned (as was I) of Pip or Maggie making a run for it with my door being opened faily often by strangers who may or may not obey the "Watch Out For Kitty-Cats" signs posted on the doors to my apartment. The best solution was to put Pip in his crate while my home was being invaded and stick around to keep an eye on Maggie. Getting her in a crate is next to impossible and she's so delicate but as you may already know, Pip likes his crate. He goes there on his own for nap time at least once a day.
I didn't want to put Pip in his crate until I had to, so when the first prospective buyer came in I picked him up to gently put him into his Happy Place, and he made what I believe is his very first angry noise
I've had him for a year and a half and he's never growled or hissed at me or anyone else as far as I know. But when I picked him up as a potential new friend came through the door, this strange gurgling sound came from him.
This might have been inevitable, as no one can be cheerful and sweet all the time. But he has always been so amiable and I'm kind of sad that I had to put him into a situation when he might be bitter.
At the same time I'm proud of Maggie for not hiding under the bed the whole time. I told her repeatedly how brave she is.
I gave them both lots of treats and snuggles to try and compensate. There's another one of these bloody things tomorrow. And I'm still nervous about the possibility of having to move.
*gulp*
