F#$% Birthdays

Even though I mentioned to my mother several times over the past few months that throwing me a 40th birthday is not only unnecessary but I'm really not feeling well enough to enjoy it, she cajoled me into agreeing to a family cake and snacks thing at her house.

Yeah, this party is for me. Not so mom can show off her lovely home and her lovely things yet again. Nooooo.

And not to sound ungrateful, she has not asked me what I want in the way of presents because (I suspect) she wants to make a big spectacle of buying me some kind of jewelry even though I rarely wear any because most of the time I don't even think about it. She knows I'm sick and broke but she'd never consider maybe getting me a gift cert for theraputic massage that can actually benefit my life in ways a bracelet never could.

She is an energy vampire, that one.

Also, Pip is shedding an awful lot. I swear I've brushed/gently pulled enough hair off him today to make another cat. This is not normal for him. I hope it's just a seasonal thing as I have enough to worry about.

I'd say anytime that she mentions your birthday in any way, bring up the massage. Go on about how it would be awesome and she could present it in a big fancy card if she wants and brag about whatever super-fabulous place she got it from.

I hope l'il Pip is ok! It is a weird weather season so hopefully it is just a phase.
